Why I'm Heading to the Military Influencer Conference and What I'm Bringing With Me

September 4, 2026 · 5 min read

There are rooms you walk into as a vendor. And there are rooms you walk into as a witness.

The Military Influencer Conference is the latter.

This year, I am honored to be on the ground at MIC as a second shooter alongside Daystar Photography. Behind the lens, in a room full of veterans who have turned their service into story, that is not just a booking. That is alignment.

The Room Where Service Becomes Story

The Military Influencer Conference brings together veteran creators, entrepreneurs, and leaders who are using their voice to build something beyond themselves. These are people who understand mission. Who understand sacrifice. Who understand that the work does not stop when the uniform comes off.

That is my community.

Speaking From the Lens was built on that same foundation. As a Navy veteran, I did not leave the military behind. I translated it. Every system, every standard, every commitment to showing up with precision and purpose carries directly into how I approach my craft.

Walking into MIC is not networking. It is homecoming.

What It Means to Second Shoot

Second shooting is a role that requires trust on both sides.

When you work alongside another photographer, you are not just filling a position. You are extending their vision. You are reading the room in real time, anticipating moments, filling angles, and making sure nothing gets missed. The work is quiet, collaborative, and demanding.

I do not take that lightly.

Partnering with Daystar Photography means showing up prepared, present, and locked in from the moment we arrive on-site. Different perspectives. One unified result. That is how strong creative partnerships work and it is the same standard I hold in every collaboration I am a part of.

Why Conferences Like This Matter to My Work

Rooms like MIC sharpen the lens, literally and professionally.

Being around veteran creators who are actively building influence, launching businesses, and amplifying their stories reminds me exactly who I am here to serve. The leaders in that room are the same leaders I photograph, film, and partner with every day.

Their credibility is built through consistency, community, and compelling media. I get to play a role in that, one frame at a time.

What I Am Taking In

I am not just there to shoot. I am there to observe, to absorb, and to bring what I learn back into the work I do for my clients.

What stories are people telling? What moments are landing? What does authority look like in this space? How are veteran leaders positioning themselves for what is next?

Those are the questions I carry into every room. The answers inform everything, the way I direct a shoot, the way I advise a client, the way I show up as a strategic media partner rather than just a photographer.

A Note on Collaboration

One of the things I value most in this industry is the willingness to show up for each other.

Collaborating with other creatives, especially other veteran-owned businesses, is not competition. It is community building. When we do great work together, we both rise. The client wins. The community wins. The story gets told at a higher level.

That is the spirit I am bringing to MIC.

If you are going to be at the Military Influencer Conference this year, come find us on-site. And if you are a speaker, leader, or organization looking for media coverage that does more than document, let's talk about what that looks like for your next event.

Until next time, keep showing up. The story is not over.
